Pirros raises $2 million to modernize architectural detail management

LOS ANGELES - Aug 31 2023 – Architecture and engineering technology platform Pirros announced today that it has raised a $2 million Seed Round from FundersClub, YCombinator, Twenty Two Ventures, and Pioneer Fund, as well as industry-connected angels including Tracy Young, Ralph Gootee, Ryan Sutton-Gee (Plangrid), Carl Bass (former CEO, Autodesk), Tim Olshansky (CTO, Aconex), Vlad Rikhter (Zenput), Joseph Walla (HelloSign), Adam Hansmann (The Athletic), and others.

Pirros is a tool created to streamline detail management for architecture and engineering firms. It automatically categorizes and catalogs the primary deliverable of design professionals: the many thousands of drawing sets that firms create each year for buildings and infrastructure.

Currently, firms face an extremely inefficient paradigm of creating, using, and then effectively discarding design details – not because they are no longer useful, but because they are stored on on-premises servers with little to no ability to rediscover and reuse them. This has the effect of architects and engineers having to re-create drawings over and over for each project, which has the further effect of stripping them of the quality control process they underwent in the course of their initial creation.

With Pirros, architects and engineers can spend more time actually designing buildings instead of documenting them. This is achieved by automatic information aggregation and storage, so that all of a company’s outputs are stored and managed in a centralized, searchable platform for easy future re-use.

“As a structural engineer by training and, more recently, by profession, I know firsthand the challenges faced by firms as they complete a project and move to the next one. We are always drowning in deadlines so no one has the time to organize and catalog the best details from each project. Despite firms’ best efforts, most designers find themselves recreating the same details with varying levels of quality from project to project. ” said Ari Baranian, Co-Founder and CEO of Pirros. “Our goal is to make every detail searchable and reusable, so that engineers and architects can focus on improving the quality of their drawings rather than recreating details that already exist deep in their archive server.”

Pirros is trusted by 30+ companies including industry leaders such as KPFF Engineers and RAMSA. The company is also actively hiring for multiple roles including software engineering and sales. Job postings can be found here.
